White Elephant
Do you have "buyer's remorse" with the magic effects you purchased at the club Auction in September? If so, then December's entertainment event may be just for you!
Our December meeting marks our annual White Elephant gift exchange. Rummage through your magic drawers and find something that you are not using, wrap it up, and bring it to the meeting on December 2nd. Everyone will have a random number assigned to them which will designate that person's order in selecting a gift. The person with the number "1" starts first by selecting a gift, unwrapping it and showing it to everyone. The second person has a choice: either select an unwrapped gift or, if the second person likes the first person's gift, take the gift that the first person selected. If the first person's gift is taken, then that person can select another unwrapped gift. The order continues with each person having the choice to select an unwrapped gift or take someone's previously opened gift. The advantage for this event goes to the people with the higher order numbers, as they can select just about any of the "prized" gifts. So, bring some quality effects to the White Elephant gift exchange. Don't bring any Turkeys (that was last month).

Next Meeting
The next meeting of Assembly 136 will be on Monday, December 2 at Hotel Park Tucson, 5151 E. Grant Road, at 7:30 PM. There will be a board meeting from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, and all members are welcome to attend any and all board functions. After the meeting, everyone is welcome to walk over to the IHOP for late-night discussions.

At Our Last Meeting
Our last meeting was held on November 4th. First Vice President Rod Robision stepped in to run the meeting as President Frank Lutz was out of town. Treasurer Joe Duperry helped out by taking minutes

Elections - Our annual elections were held. Here is who was voted into office:

President: Norm Marini
First Vice President: Mike DeSchalit
Second Vice President: John Shryock
Treasurer: Joe Duperry
Secretary: Greg Chmara
Historian: Brett Shaw
Sergeant at Arms: Tim Ayres

Congratulations to the 1997 Officers! Thanks to all of those who ran for an office.

Banquet - Saturday, January 18 is the big day for our annual banquet. Joe Duperry has already signed up about fourteen of our club's past Presidents to entertain us during the show portion of the banquet. We will also be bringing in some outside talent this year: past President Geoff Williams. As Geoff hails from snowy Minnesota now a days, he will have an opportunity to thaw out in Sunny Tucson. T-Shirts - If you did not get a chance to purchase a Stars of Magic `96 T-shirt, they will be on sale at Williams' Magic. Each commemorative shirt sells for $6.50. Act now, while supplies last! Party - Thanks to Lillian and Chris Meyer for hosting the club's party on November 16th. While turn out was reported to be low, a good time was had by all that attended. Future Lectures - We are arranging to bring Jay Sankey to the Old Pueblo to lecture for our club in January. Jay is a well-known Canadian close up performer who should have lots of solid material to challenge all of our membership. We will let you know of the date as this event gets closer.
