INTERNATIONAL STAR
Once again someone from Tucson has made a humongous mark in the magic world. In case you haven't heard our own Todd Gaines went to the IBM National Convention and entered in the Junior Close-Up contest and yeap took first place. Oh yeah by the way that was an international contest. That means he beat out juniors from all over the world. Those other countries might beat us in math scores but magic, that's a different story. WAY TO GO TODD GAINES , we are proud to have you in our membership.
By the way Erik Buss, who also seems to be getting quit up there these days in the magic world, performed his award wining act at the same convention. Multiple times I hear and did a fantastic job.

Stars of Magic Update
Well the turn out for the Stars auditions was pretty good. We always like to see as many members take advantage of this once in lifetime opportunity( ok once every year) and put something together for the show, and generally the club does very well. This year we have some great acts submitted and the committee will announce the final line-up at the Aug meeting. Again if you are not going to perform we would love to see any one interested in helping in other ways come up and lend a hand. There seems to always be more work than expected. Joe Sevits has agreed to be Stage Manager- holding a gun to his head helped- and he will need assistance. We still need some ushers so please see me if you are interested. I know you’re out there I can smell ya. Any Ideas on art work , well let us know. In the mean time we will keep you up to date.

Old Business
The stage contest was a huge sell out and from all the feed back from that night and after it was a great show. Thanks again to all who participated. The net for the club was about $850 , not to bad eh. If you want your feed back sheets form that contest buy all means buy me a cocktail and I’ll give them to you.
If you missed the party at Mike Deshalits house well we probably know what you were doing. You obviously wanted to see Tyson munch out. Well it was a lot of fun and the food was great. Thank you Mr. Deshalit and special thanks to Billy Deshalit for allowing us into your home, well at least the back yard.

Next Meeting
Don't miss this one, we’re having the parlor contest and if you're not in it then be an audience member, judge or feed back person. The more the merrier.

Good of the Order
Allen Rasco and Adrian will be off to India to perform their gospel shows and and we all wish them a safe journey. John Shyrock and Mari are now on a cruise out of Houston doing their stuff. Go kids. And we are all still here reading about them. Beats a poke in the eye with stick.
Keep in the back of your minds that there will be a Daryl Martinez Lecture on the 4th of Sept. There is a sign up sheet at Williams Magic for a work shop to precede the lecture, limited to 20 people. The IBM and SAM are cosponsoring this lecture and it will be at the St. Joseph Hospital meeting room. Happy Anniversary to Emory and Nathalia. Its their special day on the 19th.
