Reid Park Zoo, part 2

A spring trip to the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, AZ inspired this post. See also my first post about this zoo.

1 This is Tuari, a baby Grevy’s Zebra. His name comes from TUcson ARIzona in honor of his birth city. He will be transfered to another zoo when he is old enough to be away from his mother. For now we get to enjoy his antics as he grows up.

2 The Kori Bustard is a large African bird. Zoo keepers at the Reid Park Zoo collect this bird’s feathers and sell them to make fishing lures. This money is then used to support Kori Bustard conservation efforts.

3 This snake coils itself and hangs from a branch to collect precipitation. You can see the water droplets on its body.

4 This duck is reflected in the water as it swims in the pond near the flamingos in the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, AZ.

5 This male Mallard duck swims away from the camera in the pond near the flamingos at the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, AZ.

8 The South American Anteater claws a tree at the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, AZ. If you look closely at the bark of the tree, you can see the marks made by the extremely sharp claws.
